At Atkins Gregory, we believe that engaging a commercial cleaning company for the first time or switching to a new one should be painless.
Whether you’re an office manager, the administrator of a tech lab or a school facilities manager in Cambridgeshire, you’ve got enough on your plate without the headache of arduous administrative tasks.
Regardless of your situation, our job is to make your life easier by ensuring a seamless handover to Atkins Gregory, ensuring there’s no disruption to your daily operations.
Because we value transparency, in this post, we’ll break down our onboarding process to let you know what you can expect in your first 30 days and how we ensure safety and consistency.
Before we start cleaning your business location in Cambridgeshire, there’s a bit of prep work we need to do in order to ensure a smooth transition to Atkins Gregory.
Whilst we clean hundreds of locations in Cambridgeshire, risk isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whilst each business will have similar potential risks, we assess each site individually
One Cambridgeshire-based health & safety officer will visit your building to carry out an on-site risk assessment, which will include:
Slip, trip and fall risks
We will identify any uneven flooring, cables trailing across the floor and whether we’ll need to provide wet floor signage.
COSHH compliance
Our team leader will review which cleaning supplies we will need and how your current cleaning supplies are stored.
Manual handling
We’ll investigate any manual handling risks, including processes for removing waste from the building and if we’ll need to move furniture or equipment to clean.
Electrical safety
Whilst our cleaning operatives will bring their own equipment, we will ensure all plug sockets have a current EICR certificate, so it’s safe to plug in vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
Lone-worker safety
If your location is small and only needs one cleaning operative, we’ll assess which lone worker protocols we’ll need to put in place.
Once the risk assessment is complete, we’ll recommend any actions that you should take to ensure compliance and safety.

At Atkins Gregory, we will manage all of the complexities of TUPE to protect the employment rights of cleaning operatives you want to continue to employ.
We take this administrative work off your hands by:
– Interviewing employees
– Checking Right to Work documentation (passports & visas)
– Drafting Atkins Gregory employment contracts
– Handling the legal transfer of staff
Regardless of whether you’re keeping your current cleaning operatives or if we’re deploying a whole new team, the launch stage is about ensuring cleaning is carried out to Atkins Gregory brand standards, whilst understanding your expectations.
If we need to fulfil cleaning operative roles for your business, then we will also begin the recruitment process so that we can mobilise the contract and start cleaning from the agreed start date.
Our arrival
Our cleaning operatives will arrive fully equipped with all required equipment, cleaning equipment and branded uniform.
Management presence
For at least the first clean, your account manager will be on-site to oversee the cleaning team, which will help us understand and align to your expectations and site specifications.
Checklists & logbooks
We will also set up a working specification for our cleaning operatives to follow. We will also have a communications book held at reception for your cleaning operatives to log any maintenance issues, as well as for you being able to log any particular issues that need addressing by the account manager.
After the first clean, your cleaning team will have a better understanding of your expectations and your business. To ensure standards are consistent, we will go through a settling-in process.
Optional deep clean
When engaging our cleaning services for the first time, many of our clients want to start with a deep clean that will involve moving furniture and cleaning all of the hidden spots that gather dust.
Dedicated account management
For the first few cleans, your account manager will be on-site to oversee the cleaning team, regardless of whether you have daily, weekly or monthly cleaning. Your account manager will train your new cleaning team on the Atkins Gregory brand standards, ensuring nothing gets missed.
Quality control audits
To ensure standards are consistent, your Atkins Gregory account manager will arrange with you a time that they can carry out a unannounced quality control audit. They will create a report that is shared with you, which we can use to provide constructive feedback to the cleaning operatives.
Restocking process
Once we get to know how many consumables like toilet paper, hand soap and hand towels you’re using, we can adjust our restocking to align with what’s actually used to ensure you’re not buying too much.
By the end of the first month or two, depending on the frequency we clean your building, our cleaning team should be fully settled in.
Account review
Your dedicated Atkins Gregory Account Manager will arrange either a in-person or video meeting with you to discuss how everything is going. This will be your opportunity to provide some constructive feedback and ensure all teething issues are addressed. At this point, we’ll also check if you need any additional services.
Invoicing
Whether you just have regular cleaning services with Atkins Gregory or have multiple services, such as window cleaning, everything will be on one transparent invoice.
At Atkins Gregory, we’re passionate about cleaning and having a simple onboarding process that takes minimal work from your end.
We work with hundreds of businesses in multiple sectors across Cambridgeshire, and we’d love to work with you too.
